Workplace Violence Prevention Program
The objectives of this program are to:
- Develop a Veterans Health Administration (VHA)-wide Intranet-based and secure reporting system for incidents of disruptive, threatening, and violent behavior involving both patients and employees.
- Develop a “community of practice” among the Disruptive Behavior Committees that have been formed in most VHA facilities.

Disruptive Behavior Reporting System
This is an in-house, VHA system-wide way that past violent or disruptive behavior can be noted in a patient record. This allows staff to plan and act to promote safety for all involved in an episode of care, and ensure needed care is received.
