Electronic Clinical Quality Measures
An electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) is a clinical quality measure that is specified in a standard electronic format and is designed to use structured, encoded data present in the electronic health record. The eCQMs used by The Joint Commission are updated on an annual basis to account for changes in clinical evidence, measure logic, and coding updates. The Joint Commission maintains close alignment with CMS measures where possible and continues to advance eCQM development to drive quality improvement. The following sections provides links to eCQM specifications used by The Joint Commission and access to support resources.
The measures supported by The Joint Commission that are in alignment with CMS are: eSTK-2, eSTK-3, eSTK-5, eSTK-6, eVTE-1, eVTE-2, ePC-05, eED-2, Safe Use of Opioids. Specifications and support documents for these eCQMs are available on the eCQI Resource Center.
Also, ePC-01, ePC-02, and ePC-06 are additional measures supported by The Joint Commission. Measure specifications, measure flows, value set information, known issues log and technical release notes are available via the links below.
Note: The ePC-01 Known Issue has been resolved. An updated measure package (version 9.2) has been posted as of June 25, 2020. Also, the ePC-06 specifications are currently not available in the links below and will be made available by January 2021.
