The Joint Commission’s new Rural Health Clinic Accreditation Program was featured in a Modern Healthcare article (subscription required). Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president for Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer, also appeared in a live segment on RFD-TV’s Market Day Report. Dr. Grubbs discussed the hurdles healthcare organizations in rural communities face, and how The Joint Commission’s new accreditation program will help rural health clinics improve patient safety and quality of care for the more than 60 million Americans living in rural areas.
“The Joint Commission’s new Rural Health Clinic Accreditation has recently received initial deeming authority from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The accreditation is intended to help healthcare organizations located in underserved, rural communities improve the quality of their primary care and personal healthcare services,” noted Dr. Grubbs in the segment.
