New and Revised Requirements for Total Hip and Knee Replacement
The Joint Commission approved revised requirements for the advanced disease-specific care certification for total hip and total knee replacement (THKR). In December of 2022, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) released updated clinical practice guidelines for knee replacement. The Joint Commission updated the THKR requirements to align with the updated AAOS clinical practice guidelines. The revised Joint Commission requirements are effective July 1, 2024.
