New and Revised Requirements for the “Infection Prevention and Control” (IC) Chapter
Effective July 1, 2024, The Joint Commission approved new and revised requirements for the “Infection Prevention and Control” (IC) chapter for critical access hospitals and hospitals. The IC chapter underwent a full rewrite and will replace the current IC chapter for both accreditation programs. The revised chapter focuses on the structures that support quality and safety.
In addition to the new and revised requirements, a reference guide showing where concepts from the old EPs have moved in the new EPs is included below.
