The University of Chicago Medicine has been honored with the 2023 Bernard J. Tyson National Award for Excellence in Pursuit of Healthcare Equity for its initiative Systematic Treatment and Management of Postpartum Hypertension (STAMPP-HTN) to improve postpartum care for women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. The program's interventions led to impressive results, eliminating the disparities in postpartum follow-up visit attendance between Black and white patients, and significantly improving clinical outcomes. Through the program, UChicago Medicine has demonstrated that healthcare disparities can be improved and even eliminated with intention and perseverance.
UChicago Medicine will be recognized in a virtual award ceremony on Monday, Nov. 27. Register to attend.

The Joint Commission changed its document upload process for all certification programs. Now, required documents must be uploaded to the organization’s Joint Commission Connect® extranet site, rather than to SharePoint. The Joint Commission will provide easy access to the program folder, so a Joint Commission Connect user can upload documents if they have been granted security rights for document upload. Any program with a recertification review due date or an initial ready date on or after Jan. 15, 2024, will upload documents to Joint Commission Connect.
As a result of this change, the following steps have been revised:
- The “What’s Due” section on the Joint Commission Connect extranet site will prompt the document upload and will remain there until all required documents are uploaded.
- The “What’s Due” section will populate 60 days before the program’s due date and all documents will be due at 45 days before the program’s due date so that all the documents are uploaded as the review window opens (the three-month time frame in which an organization can have its review). Note: If needed, documents may be updated during the review window.
- Staff who upload documents must tag each file. When all the tags have been assigned to a document and the documents have been uploaded, the system will recognize that the required document uploading has been completed.
The document upload section can be found on the Joint Commission Connect extranet site under the “Review Process” tab by clicking on the “Document Upload” link. On the Document Upload page, there are instructions, document lists, and a certification program folder for uploading required documents.
To prepare for this change, The Joint Commission recommends reviewing the “Security Admin” tab on the Joint Commission Connect extranet site. Users who will be uploading documents for any certification programs should have their security rights changed to “full.”
