NQF accepting nominations for Focus on HARM Initiative Technical Expert Panels
The National Quality Forum (NQF) is accepting nominations for individuals to serve on Technical Expert Panels (TEPs) for the Focus on HARM (Harmonizing Accountability in Reporting and Monitoring) Initiative. As reported in last week’s Joint Commission Online, the goal of the Focus on HARM Initiative is to address the high rates of avoidable medical errors and preventable patient harms that continue despite decades of efforts to remediate these events.
NQF will convene experts with experience in patient safety event review, classification, reporting, coding, or related health IT experience to support the first stage of the initiative, which is updating NQF’s Serious Reportable Event List. The TEPs will be divided into two groups of experts: one TEP will review candidate Serious Reportable Events and develop consensus for inclusion, and the other group will establish implementation guidance for the included events.
Nominees will need to provide personal information, a CV or resume, and brief explanations about their expertise and interest related to this project. The timeline for the work to be accomplished by the TEP is June 1, 2024, to Feb. 1, 2025.
