Proficiency Testing - Requirement

Is proficiency testing required for waived tests?

Any examples are for illustrative purposes only.

The Joint Commission standards do not require participation in proficiency testing for those test systems classified by the FDA as waived complexity. Some organizations may voluntarily participate in proficiency testing as good practice or use proficiency testing as part of their competency assessment program. The Joint Commission will survey each organization according to its own policies relative to proficiency testing for waived testing.
