Physician Privileges - IV Thrombolytic
Can a (Board Certified) Emergency Department physician order IV thrombolytic using the Clinical Practice Guidelines and clinical protocols without consulting a neurologist or the stroke team?

An Emergency Department physician can order tissue plasminogen activator if they are credentialed and privileged by the organization to do so. However, it is required that Emergency Department physician be knowledgeable of the indications for and contraindications of IV thrombolytic therapy.
