Combating Violence in Communities and Hospitals
"Hospitals Against Violence" Resources from the AHA
Our communities must work together to combat all forms of violence, now viewed as one of the major public health and safety issues throughout the country. Community action programs such as those being undertaken by our nation’s hospitals and health systems (alone and with others) are needed now more than ever to help address violence and the toll it takes on our communities and hospital colleagues.
The AHA is committed to helping our hospitals and health systems respond to these challenges.
American Hospital Association
The American Hospital Association (AHA) is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 43,000 individual members come together to form the AHA.
AHA affiliates are uniquely positioned to respond to a broad array of local and national issues by providing hospitals with assistance in buying decisions, ideas and information, education, and consulting services. AHA actively participates in partnerships and initiatives addressing crucial areas of concern to the American health care system. AHA and several affiliates have WPV resources on their respective websites, which can be accessed through the main AHA website.
