Advanced Certification in Disease-Specific Care


Disease-Specific Care Certification is available at two levels, core and advanced. Both are evaluated through the same set of Disease-Specific Care standards. However, the advanced certification programs must meet additional, clinically specific requirements and expectations. The Joint Commission offers Advanced Certification for the following conditions and procedures:

  • Heart Failure Learn More

  • Primary Stroke Center  Learn More
    Developed in conjunction with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association
     
  • Comprehensive Stroke Centers Learn More 
    Developed in conjunction with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association
     
  • Lung Volume Reduction Surgery Learn More
    Certification is required for Medicare reimbursement.
     
  • Ventricular Assist Device for Destination Therapy Learn More
    Certification is required for Medicare reimbursement
