
Deborah A. Ryan
Deborah Ryan has been with The Joint Commission since 2008. She currently serves as Interim Executive Vice President of Accreditation and Certification Operations. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the accreditation and certification programs, the initiation and completion of all activities related to the survey and accreditation/certification process, and customer satisfaction for services provided. Previously, Ms. Ryan was a Senior Director, Field Operations managing the Field Directors and Surveyor cadre in the Ambulatory, Behavioral Health, Disease Specific-Care Certification, Home Care, and Laboratory programs. In addition, she provided clinical oversight and guidance for the Hospital and Nursing Care Center programs. Ms. Ryan was also previously a Field Director in the Home Care program and is a trained Surveyor under the Accreditation Manual for Home Care.
Ms. Ryan has over 30 years of experience in health care. Prior to joining The Joint Commission, she was Vice President of Clinical Services and, subsequently, President of the University of Chicago Hospitals’ Home Care program. The program offered a full range of services including home health, infusion pharmacy, durable medical equipment, hospice, and private duty. In addition, she also served as General Manager of a national home infusion company. Her inpatient clinical nursing experience was in the medical/respiratory unit at Rush University Medical Center.
Ms. Ryan has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Marquette University and a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from DePaul University.
Ms. Ryan is currently licensed in Illinois as a Registered Nurse.
