Joint Commission accreditation requirements fall into two major categories: Standards and National Patient Safety Goals.
Currently our standards are online available for a free 60 trial review. Register for access to the standards.
Joint Commission’s standards cover a variety of areas that are considered key to providing safe, high quality care to patients and/or clients. Topic areas include medication management to leadership, staffing, equipment maintenance and fall risk reduction.
We provide a Standards "Help Desk" service that is available to organizations free of charge. You can post questions online to the group or call directly. They are experienced home care professionals who have worked in the industry and understand your business. They can be reached at 630-792-5900 or online .
National Patient Safety Goals
The National Patient Safety Goals for the home care program are accessible on this page. Unique to the Joint Commission, these goals help providers proactively address key patient safety issues that can affect their business.
Organizations who choose to move forward with accreditation will receive current manuals (both a hard copy and online access) free of charge after receipt of their application and deposit.
Manuals can also be purchased directly, without applying for accreditation at Joint Commission Resources.
Helpful to know!
Each of our standards includes an applicability grid. The grid includes a list of all of the areas of home care that we serve. Please be sure to check the grid to determine if the standard is applicable to the specific type of home care service that you provide. Our online standards manual has a convenient "filter" capability which allows you to view only the standards applicable to the service your organization provides. Additionally, within the standards it is noted if any written documentation is required to demonstrate compliance.
