Executive Vice President - Chief Brand and Communications Officer

Paul Gerrard is the Executive Vice President, Chief Brand and Communications Officer at The Joint Commission. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating all brand and communications activities across the Enterprise: overseeing brand strategy and management, corporate communications, public relations, and reputation management; and ensuring alignment of corporate marketing and communications efforts with The Joint Commission’s overall business goals.


Mr. Gerrard has extensive experience working in healthcare communications including senior marketing and communications roles at Humana, and leading strategic communications for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. He has developed communications programs that foster transparency and credibility, helped organizations cultivate clear identities and compelling brand promises, and has a consistent record of driving growth and producing long-term value by protecting and enhancing brands and reputations.


Mr. Gerrard has been named a Top 50 Health Influencer by PR Week and has received multiple awards including a PRSA Silver Anvil and IABC Gold Quill. He received his post graduate diploma in Applied European Studies with French from the London South Bank University, and his Bachelor of Arts in European Studies with Italian from the University of Kent.
