Notification/Fire Watch - Unplanned Outage
Publish | January 01, 0001
When does the 4-hour fire watch start and end during an unplanned loss of the fire safety system?

If there is an unplanned loss of a fire safety system (see EC.02.03.05 for related systems), the clock starts at the time the loss is discovered. If the system is restored within the four hours, the clock stops. If there is another loss of the system, the four hour clock re-starts where the system was previously restored. So if there is an intermittent, unplanned loss of the system, it is required to set a fire watch before or at fours hours of cumulative (not consecutive) outage within a 24-hour period.
