Proposed Requirements for the Emergency Management Chapter for the Home Care Accreditation Program Field Review

In late 2019, The Joint Commission began discussing opportunities for improving its “Emergency Management” (EM) chapter in all its accreditation programs. The revisions in the EM chapter include a complete restructuring of the chapter as well as reviewing each accredited program’s EM chapter standards to align with current industry standards and to eliminate chapter redundancy.

For the Home Care (OME) accreditation program, these new and revised emergency management standards will help organizations develop and improve their actions and responses to emergencies or disasters.  The emergency management chapter and the revised changes will be released in July 2023.

Your participation and feedback on these draft standards will be extremely valuable in helping The Joint Commission revise the “Emergency Management” chapter requirements.

Comments on these proposed requirements will be gathered through August 24th, 2022. Thank you in advance for your time and thoughtful responses.
