The Joint Commission is proposing a new water management program standard for the Hospital (HAP), Critical Access Hospital (CAH), and Nursing Care Center (NCC) accreditation programs. This proposed standard and its EPs are based on CMS guidance as well as that of the CDC and ASHRAE. The new water management standard aims to strengthen Joint Commission requirements by helping health care organization reduce the number of cases related to waterborne pathogens that occur in their facilities through the implementation of a comprehensive water management program.
