Ventilation Air Pressure Relationship Requirements: Endoscopy Procedures

Are there specific air pressure relationship requirements for rooms in which endoscopy procedures are performed ?

The Joint Commission accepts organizations adoption of the 2014 Facility Guidelines Institute's (FGI) ventilation requirement for air pressure relationship for endoscopy procedure rooms.  The guideline which previously had a requirement of positive air pressure has been changed to “not required”; meaning positive or negative pressure relationship is acceptable.  Organizations should ensure their adoption of these guidelines includes evaluation of controlling authority rules and regulations.   If the organization has not made a documented decision, the room will be evaluated per the original design criteria.
