Clinical Practice Guidelines - Selection

Does The Joint Commission require specific Clinical Practice Guidelines?

It is up to the organization to select evidence based or peer reviewed literature to support the Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs). The CPGs need to be appropriate to the target population, services provided and resources of the organization.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) offers evidence-based guidelines and is a joint effort among the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the American Medical Association, and the American Association of Health Plans.
