New and Revised Emergency Management Standards
Effective July 1, 2023, new and revised “Emergency Management” (EM) chapter requirements have been approved for all Joint Commission–accredited home care organizations.
The Joint Commission undertook a thorough analysis and rewrite of the EM chapter that resulted in reorganizing requirements, renumbering standards, and reducing the number of elements of performance (EPs) by over 30%. As a result of the EM revisions, IM.01.01.03, EP 5 and PC.01.03.01, EP 55 have been deleted for deemed home health agencies and hospices.
