Tina Cordero, PhD, MPH, associate project director, Standards and Survey Methods, highlights a new, tested, evidence-based guide to help hospitals work as partners with patients and families around four specific strategies. Each strategy contains an implementation handbook and tools for patients, families and clinicians. The Joint Commission partnered with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), which developed the Guide to Patient and Family Engagement in Hospital Quality and Safety. [5:00]
