For more than 60 years, The Joint Commission has been a champion of patient safety by encouraging and supporting organizations in their efforts to make patient safety a continuous priority.
 
The Joint Commission has named Dr. Ronald M. Wyatt, MD, MHA, to the newly created position of patient safety officer.  This appointment is a direct reflection of the organization’s commitment to promoting a safe and high-quality health care system with a goal of zero patient harm.
