The Joint Commission is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as an approved accreditor for Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs) seeking Medicare initial certification, and can provide accreditation and Medicare certification simultaneously through its survey process.
