This Take 5 with The Joint Commission features Angela D. Thomas, DrPH, MPH, MBA, Vice President of Healthcare Delivery Research at MedStar Health, who talked about her research on racial biases existing in voluntary reporting of near miss patient-safety events.

Dr. Thomas also is the Executive Lead for the D.C. Safe Babies Safe Moms initiative, and she spoke about the disparities that exist in maternal and infant mortality that led to the creation of the initiative. [8:02]
