Friday, March 18 2022

(WASHINGTON, D.C., March 18, 2022) – The Joint Commission commends the President for signing the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act, a bipartisan bill to address the well-being of health care professionals. The law provides federal grants for training programs to reduce burnout and to provide mental health services for health care workers. The Joint Commission applauds the inclusion of a provision in the law to review the barriers health care professionals face when seeking mental services. The Joint Commission has issued several statements on the importance of removing barriers to mental health care for clinicians. Importantly, The Joint Commission thanks Dr. Lorna Breen’s family for their efforts to address this critical issue.
