Prepublication Standards – Standard Related to Performance on ORYX Measures to be Deleted

August 21, 2017
Download

Effective January 1, 2018 Standard PI.02.01.03 and its one element of performance, will be permanently deleted. It has been suspended since January 2015 (see December 2014 Perspectives) and will now be deleted because The Joint Commission has determined that it is not possible to accurately calculate the composite rate with the degree of assurance necessary. A number of chart-based measures were retired to maintain alignment with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and there is an insufficient number of accountability measures remaining that are relevant to this requirement. In addition, accredited hospitals may submit measure data using various submission methods (chart-based measure data, eCQMs, or a combination of both). These methods do not have the same level of comparability, which also affects the calculation of the composite rate for this EP.
