The Joint Commission will implement a new Medication Compounding chapter in the Home Care accreditation program. This chapter will be applicable to all compounding pharmacies that are seeking initial accreditation and triennial re-accreditation. The standards developed for the Medication Compounding chapter were adapted from The Joint Commission’s Medication Compounding certification requirements and are aligned with current United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) requirements for sterile and nonsterile preparations.
