The Nursing Care Center Accreditation program combines an enhanced patient- and resident-centered quality framework with collaborative on-site evaluation to help post-acute care, sub-acute and long term care facilities identify and address vulnerabilities to safeguard patients and residents.

Corporate Advantage for Nursing Care Centers
This program addresses the unique management and oversight needs of multi-facility nursing care corporations, identifying the processes/systems across your sites that impact quality or safety. This option provides coordinated access to Joint Commission personnel and accreditation resources.

Certification Options

The Joint Commission also offers various certifications to meet the distinct quality needs of nursing care centers. Certification is available to organizations that are also receiving (or have already obtained) accreditation under the Nursing Care Center Accreditation program.

Post-Acute Care Certification
This option helps you build an effective framework to address the unique care needs of higher acuity or short-stay patients. It highlights the importance of effective care transitions that minimize the risk of unnecessary hospitalizations.

Memory Care Certification
This certification is aimed at minimizing risks and improving care for patients and residents with all levels of cognitive impairment. The standards address safety of environment, specialized care and service programming, advanced staff training and availability of support groups for families. Early Survey Option
The Early Survey Option is reserved for organizations that do not actively care for patients yet, but must provide evidence to payers or regulators of their intent to obtain full accreditation.

Tailored Survey Option
For organizations seeking accreditation across multiple disciplines (i.e., behavioral health, home care and hospital settings), The Joint Commission offers a tailored survey option to help coordinate and streamline the application and survey process.
