Impact of COVID-19

New Protocols for On-site Surveys 

Prior to scheduling, The Joint Commission is now taking into account the number of COVID-19 cases in the county. For areas deemed appropriate for an on-site survey, surveyors are required to wear a face covering throughout the survey and practice appropriate physical distancing.

Surveyors will not be permitted to travel if they display symptoms or report close contact with anyone with COVID-19. Onsite, surveyors will not enter areas with COVID-19 positive individuals and will instead observe from a distance or remotely.

Virtual Survey Process

Where appropriate, we will consider conducting a virtual survey. This process, conducted via Zoom, includes interviews with staff and individuals served/families as appropriate and observations of key care processes. If it’s determined that a virtual survey is appropriate for your organization, your Joint Commission Account Executive will contact you to assess eligibility and technical requirements for a virtual survey.

Through dedicated infection control standards and expert surveyors well-versed in COVID guidelines, we will model the correct implementation of infection prevention and control strategies to educate and support the behavioral health care and human services agencies we survey.
