As the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care, our mission is to continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders. To that extent, our leaders continuously advocate for health care organizations to ensure policies are in your best interests. Through our Washington, D.C. office, we interface with federal government and key stakeholders on key health care issues.
We also collaborate with other health care associations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, American Hospital Association and the American Medical Association, as well as many others, to advocate for safer policies. Our Board of Commissioners includes physicians, administrators, nurses, employers, quality and innovation experts, and educators from some of these and other health care associations.
