New video: Creating a Safety Culture

cth_video_safety_culture_tn

A safety culture is built on trust. It empowers staff to report errors, near misses, and recognize unsafe behaviors and conditions that can put patients at risk, all of which drive improvement. See and hear more about The Center for Transforming Healthcare’s sixth project that focuses on improving safety culture. (Contact: Coleen Smith, csmith@jointcommission.org)

This was an excellent reminder that each emplloyee is responsible to ensure patient safety. No retaliation programs should be publicized so staff is aware they can report an actual occurrence of a breach or a 'gut feeling', 'something just isn't right' concern. As a master's student in health informatics patient safety and quality care are central to our studies and our current and/or future endeavors. Thanks for the video from a cross section of hosptials and care givers, especially the PT and dietary staff (unsong heroes).
