Research

The Joint Commission is engaged in a broad range of research activities which constitute the primary avenue for generating new knowledge related to health care quality and patient safety. These activities are largely supported through extramural funding. The Joint Commission is widely sought after as a research partner and collaborator and has a track record of securing national and international funding through the development of competitive research proposals. The Joint Commission will continue to aggressively pursue funding and collaborative research opportunities in any area of health care that is consistent with, and advances, its’ mission.

Current Research Projects

The Joint Commission’s Division of Quality Measurement and Research is engaged in a wide range of extramurally funded, collaborative research projects. Among the agencies that have funded research activities at the Joint Commission are the federal government, state governments, national health councils, universities, private research institutes, corporations and international health organizations. The Joint Commission is interested in pursuing funding and collaborative research activities in any area that advances its’ mission.
