Background

Pregnancy and related conditions was one of the initial priority focus areas for hospital core measure development identified by key Joint Commission stakeholders.  In 2002, the Pregnancy and Related Conditions (PR) set was one of the initial sets of core measures implemented.

Important Information

After March 31, 2010, the Pregnancy and Related Conditions core measure set will be retired and replaced with the new Perinatal Care (PC) core measure set.  The new Perinatal Care Core Measure Set  will be available for use beginning with April 1, 2010 discharges.

Pregnancy and Related Conditions Core Measure Specifications

If your hospital is currently collecting data on the Pregnancy and Related Conditions measures, specifications can be found in the Specification Manual for National Hospital Quality Measures  until March 31, 2010.  PR measure data will not be accepted by The Joint Commission for discharges after March 31, 2010.
