Facts about the Nursing Advisory Council

The Nursing Advisory Council was established in 2003 to counsel The Joint Commission on present and evolving nursing-related issues that are affecting health care quality and patient safety. The council provides input to The Joint Commission on initiatives that affect the nursing profession and seeks to advance solutions to the nurse staffing crisis.

The council is chaired by Marilyn P. Chow, RN, DNSc, FAAN, vice president of Patient Care Services at Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, Calif.  Dr. Chow is also the official at-large nursing representative on the Joint Commission’s Board of Commissioners.
