Executive Director of Health Care Staffing Services Certification

Michele Sacco is the executive director for the Health Care Staffing Services Certification Program at The Joint Commission.  In this role, she oversees all certification activities related to health care staffing services, including the development of standards and review processes.

Sacco has more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry, specifically in health care staffing, home health, assisted living, long term care and case management. She was a consultant in the medical-legal field and also served as chief executive officer and president of VNA Health Services. 

Sacco has lectured extensively for industry groups including the South Carolina Hospital Association, Staffing Industry Analysts, Emergency Nurse Association (ENA), the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and many other organizations. Sacco holds a master’s degree in forensic sciences from National University in San Diego, California and a bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
