Mary Cesare-Murphy, Ph.D.

Behavioral Health Care Program

A licensed clinical psychologist, Mary Cesare-Murphy is the Executive Director of Behavioral Health Program at The Joint Commission.  In this role she is the behavioral health product line leader and Joint Commission liaison to national behavioral health professional and provider associations.  Prior to joining The Joint Commission she was Associate Professor of Psychology at St. Xavier University and a Joint Commission intermittent surveyor. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Indiana State University, and Quincy University, Dr. Cesare–Murphy’s clinical experience includes community mental health settings and services to persons with developmental disabilities.  She has provided consultation, technical assistance and staff training services in array of behavioral health settings including hospitals, community mental health centers, residential treatment centers for children and youth, addictions treatment programs. Dr. Cesare –Murphy has served on a number of national task forces and work groups focused on behavioral health care policy development and conducted numerous speeches, workshops and symposia addressing a range of issues pertinent to improving the performance of behavioral health organizations.
