Anne Marie Benedicto

Executive Vice President, Support Operations and Chief of Staff

Anne Marie Benedicto is the Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President of Support Operations for The Joint Commission. She is also the Vice President of Operations for the Center for Transforming Healthcare. 

As Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President for The Joint Commission, Ms. Benedicto provides day-to-day oversight and coordination of human resources, information technology, office services, and board and committee activities.  She is responsible for the Joint Commission’s Internet site and the dissemination of data to external third parties. She is also responsible for the leadership of The Joint Commission operations team, and the coordination of common functions between The Joint Commission and its not-for-profit affiliate, Joint Commission Resources (JCR).

As Vice President for Operations for the Center for Transforming Healthcare, Ms. Benedicto is responsible for this Joint Commission subsidiary’s development and dissemination of strategies to improve patient safety and quality to health care organizations. 

She is the leader for The Joint Commission’s systematic approach in problem solving named Robust Process Improvement.  Robust Process Improvement is a unique blend of Lean Six Sigma, Change Management and high reliability methods to improve patient safety and quality, and to implement processing efficiencies.

Prior to joining The Joint Commission, Ms. Benedicto was the administrator for both the Office for Excellence in Patient Care at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Department of Health Policy. She also held finance-related positions at the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, including Reimbursement Director for Bellevue Hospital Center.

Ms. Benedicto holds a master of public policy and administration and a master of public health from Columbia University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
