Certification Measure Information Process

Q: What is CMIP?

A: “CMIP” stands for Certification Measure Information Process.  It is Part II of the electronic application used for certification and available through the firm’s secure extranet site, The Joint Commission Connect™.

Q: What data are submitted through CMIP?

A: Monthly data points consisting of a numerator and denominator value for each performance measure should be entered in CMIP. The measure result will be calculated by the computer.

Q: Which number is the numerator and which is the denominator?
A: The top number of a proportion (fraction) is the numerator and the bottom number is the denominator.  Generally, the denominator is the larger number.  Read more

Q: How often should firms submit performance measure data to The Joint Commission?

A:  Data should be entered in CMIP as it becomes available.  HCSS firms are required to submit (e.g., send, transmit) performance measure data to The Joint Commission within 45 days of the end of each quarter.

Q:  How do firms submit data via CMIP?

A:  The data submission requirement for each quarter is accomplished by entering the monthly data points (numerator and denominator value for each measure) and clicking the “Save” button.  The “Save” button will transmit the data to The Joint Commission.  Do not use the “Refresh” button or “Back” button at the top of the screen once data has been entered and saved.

Q: When should programs complete the performance measure data report questions found in CMIP?

A:  Performance Measure Data Report questions can be completed / updated / revised at any time; however, responses to all 4 questions should be entered by the time of Intra-Cycle Review and reviewed / updated / revised for the recertification review visit.  A performance measure data report should be completed for each measure.  CMIP replaces the hard-copy Performance Measure Data Report forms previously utilized and found on pages PI-6 and PI-7 of the 2008 HCSS Certification Manual.  Read more
