Q. If we are a Joint Commission certified staffing firm and our contract is with a Joint Commission accredited hospital, can the hospital use our credentialing results and not have to do it again?
A. The Joint Commission certified staffing firm must complete the credentialing process for all clinical staff that are assigned in the field. The hospital that contracts with the certified staffing firm may use the credentialing process of the staffing firm if the staffing firm meets the requirements of a credential verification organization (CVO). The hospital that uses a CVO should have confidence in the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the information. The requirements to be a CVO can be found in Appendix B of the Health Care Staffing Services certification manual.
