5 Plus 1 Websites To Visit Regularly

Jan 24, 2013 | 2479 Views

In this day of information overload, I wanted to take a minute to share some reliable websites that offer valuable resources to the home care industry.  Visiting these sites regularly can help you obtain useful information for you and your patients:  The FDA website provides a wide variety of free, useful resources for you, your staff and patients.  Want to patient education efforts for individuals who suffer with sleep apnea?Consider using their free patient informational video on the safe use of CPAP in the home. This site just keeps getting better each time I visit.  The Home Health Quality Improvement site has a wealth of resources for any home care organization to use, including their famous Best Practice Intervention Packages (BPIP) dealing with important home care issues.  The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is a great source of information and tools to use in your organization.  Checklists, articles, and links to other sites make this a great place to begin when gathering information to use in your company.  I particularly like the information for clients and patients available on the ‘Navigating Health Care’ tool bar. The Institute for Safe Medication Practice has always been one of my favorite ‘go to’ sites for current, accurate information about drugs and biologicals.   If pharmacy is in your service line, take a moment to read the ‘Guidelines for safe preparation of sterile compounding’.  It’s located on the right hand toolbar.  If your organization does business with CMS this is a must have website that should be bookmarked on your computer.  Looking for guidance on the hospice face-to-face requirement?  Review the powerpoint presentation, click on the word hospice to begin.

I also invite you to visit our websites regularly.  Together with The Center for Transforming Healthcare, and Joint Commission Resources, please know that we’re doing our best to provide you with valuable information that can help you on your journey to performance improvement.  Let me know if you have a favorite site you visit regularly, I’m always looking for reliable information!
