Changes to Medicare/Medicaid Certification-Based LTC Accreditation Standards

Some necessary changes were not included in the 2007 Update 1 (March) for the Medicare/Medicaid Certification-Based LTC Accreditation Standards chapter of the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Long Term Care (CAMLTC).
The revisions/changes involved the following:
- The rationale for APR 10 regarding misrepresentation of information
- The expectations for National Patient Safety Goal 1, Requirement 1A regarding patient identifiers, with scoring category changes
- The expectation of Requirement 2A and the rationale for Requirement 2E of National Patient Safety Goal 2 regarding effective communication
- The expectation for National Patient Safety Goal 3, Requirement 3C regarding look-alike, sound-alike drugs
- The expectations of Requirement 8A and 8B for National Patient Safety Goal 8 regarding medication reconciliation
- A scoring category change for HR.4.20, EP 2
Please make note of these changes. They will be corrected in the 2007 Update 2 (September) for the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Long Term Care (CAMLTC).
