A: Proficiency testing is not required for laboratories with a Provider Performed Microscopy Procedure certificate. Laboratories may elect to participate in proficiency testing in order to satisfy other standards requirements for competency (as applicable) and semiannual verification of the test method, although other mechanisms that demonstrate compliance would also be acceptable.
