Accreditation Process

'Advantage of One' for Multi-Sited Laboratories

The Joint Commission's Advantage of One plan can review all the laboratories in your organization during the same survey. One survey covers your laboratories in hospitals, freestanding ambulatory care centers, surgicenters, behavioral facilities, and long term care facilities, even if services are provided off campus or in a neighboring state.

The Advantage of One may cost considerably less than using several accrediting organizations. Here's why:

One application
One application covers all the laboratories in your system, regardless of location or services provided.

One survey
We'll review all laboratories in your system during one survey, even though they may have different CLIA certificates. You can more easily plan your training and preparation efforts when everyone is on the same accreditation schedule. Better coordination in training saves time and money.

One surveyor
A Joint Commission survey ensures a consistent approach to accreditation across all the laboratories in your system because we use one surveyor to complete the entire survey.

One report
We'll issue one accreditation report summarizing your entire laboratory system and reviewing laboratory service integration, something a fragmented approach to accreditation simply can't address.

One set of broad-based standards
When all your laboratories follow the same standards, you can share training and preparation efforts throughout your organization.
