Q: How do we monitor patient response to a newly added medication before we make it available for dispensing or ordering?
A: Standard MM.2.10, EP #4 requires that before you add a medication to your list or formulary, you are sure that either staff is trained on the effects of the medication and/or your organization has access to appropriate laboratory or other diagnostic testing to monitor effectiveness.
