How To Become Accredited

Interested in Ambulatory Care Accreditation?

The Joint Commission’s Ambulatory Care Accreditation Program was established in 1975, and today more than 1,700 freestanding ambulatory care organizations are Joint Commission-accredited. These organizations generally fall into the broad categories of surgical, medical/dental, diagnostic/therapeutic services and telehealth, and represent a variety of settings.

What's the Word on Accreditation?

“Joint Commission accreditation is paramount to my practice.  It demonstrates excellence to my patients and the community of my commitment of the highest level of care. Accreditation provides a level of comfort that the systems are in place and working to protect myself, staff and patients.  In the end, everyone wins.  Patients often are impressed that I achieved it.  It just provides consistent, realizable level of service and facilities for my staff, patients and myself.”

Lee R. Walker MD DDS
Los Gatos Oral & Facial Surgery

“We’ve always been strong believers in making every effort to give patients the highest standard of care in our office surgery setting.  Joint Commission accreditation gives us a challenge to make sure we’re doing things right 100% of the time.  Accreditation is an excellent process for staff . It stretches your mind and makes you think, ‘What is that one more step you can do for your patients?’”
