Senior Legal Counsel

Provides and helps coordinate the provision of legal advice to Joint Commission Resources and Joint Commission Board members, officers, and staff, and represents Joint Commission Resources and The Joint Commission. 

Requirements:  Juris doctor degree.  Current professional license required at time of hire which must be maintained.  No history of adverse action(s) relative to current or previous professional license.  Substantial experience, equivalent to a minimum of 10 years, practicing law at the level of a junior partner, or senior corporate or governmental in-house attorney.  Strong writing and communication skills.  Professional experience reflecting the ability to work through complex issues and provide sophisticated and practical advice to help clients achieve their goals consistent with the highest integrity.  Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:  Familiarity and expertise with health law relevant to quality and safety issues.  Contract negotiation and drafting expertise.  Knowledge of corporate not-for-profit and tax exempt law.  Exposure to international business law.  Some knowledge of litigation and other dispute resolution processes.  Qualified candidates may contact rmjobs@jointcommission.org
